Mahler Chamber Orchestra
A professional touring chamber orchestra founded by Claudio Abbado and former members of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra in 1997.
The MCO appears throughout the year in about 60-70 concerts and performances. It consists of 60 musicians from 17 different nations. Its activities include concerts, opera projects, chamber music as well as CD recordings.
Strong artistic links have been established with Daniel Harding (principal guest conductor 1998-2003, music director since September 2003) and Claudio Abbado.

The MCO is a free financed orchestra without any state support. Friends and sponsors are needed to maintain the artistic life of the orchestra.

Brahms Symphony No. 3 in F Major, Op.90
The symphony is scored for two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, a contrabassoon, four horns, two trumpets, three trombones, timpani, and strings.The symphony is in four movements, marked as follows:
- Allegro con brio (F major), in sonata form.
- Andante (C major), in ternary form (A B A').
- Poco allegretto (C minor), in ternary form (A B A').
- Allegro (F minor, ending in F major), in a modified sonata form.

The symphony is scored for two flutes (one doubling on piccolo), two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, a contrabassoon, four horns, two trumpets, three trombones, timpani, triangle(third movement only), and strings.
The symphony is divided into four movements with the following tempo markings:
- Allegro non troppo (E minor)
- Andante moderato (E minor/E major)
- Allegro giocoso (C major [might also be interpreted as E phrygian])
- Allegro energico e passionato (E minor)
